The History of Fairfax Project

Fairfax has been the political and cultural powerbase of the African-American community in Cleveland. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. met often in Fairfax with community leaders and civil rights workers. One of America’s greatest poets and playwrights, Langston Hughes, grew up in Fairfax.

The PNC Fairfax Connection celebrates the history of Fairfax. Through an intergenerational project, we’ll be capturing and preserving the neighborhood’s history. PNC Fairfax Connection is looking for longtime residents and community leaders who would like to contribute to the History of Fairfax Project.
